"the myth"

"Everybody acts out a myth, but very few know what their myth is."

"More it's like there is a story, that you should be acting out, that works across games,

and you have an incline of it, you have a notion of it, you have a vague apprehension of it,
it is sort of built into you - that's archetype, that's an archetype."

"woolgathering"

"God told me if I painted it enough, I could have it."
― Georgia O'Keeffe

after all this time

after all this time of
gold wheel spinning
treading silk yarn in
fancy dream-knitting
woolgathering
the spool in my hand is bare
my bed ― empty
and I still wonder, what if?
what if I had pricked my finger
let it bleed, then what?
what then, love?
.
can you live twice
the same dream?

June solstice ―

its branches swayed by heat
splintered light-

brea[d]th of wings, slender dreams
and ruddy-ripe cherries

This place

This place
I will [re]call upon arrival : august
in the shadow of a blazing sun-
flower steeped in saffron
serendipitous dawn ―
unrequested unannounced
quietly expected evermore welcomed
then and there, laconic sun rises in earnest
above a hazy lush-green cornfield
sinks in a palm of dust
tossed over a wavering mountainous sea
and behind my shoulder
.
there! ― so far away as to forget my fear
of not ever turning back

Floating dreams

"There are mornings in our lives when beauty falls into our hands
and when that happens, we must do what we can to nurture and protect it.
That we sometimes fail must never preclude our striving."

― Patrick Lane

"I know not what I seek eternally" (Rosalía de Castro)

I know not what I seek eternally
on earth, in air, and sky;
I know not what I seek; but it is something
that I have lost, I know not when,
and cannot find, although in dreams invisibly
it dwells in all I touch and see.

Ah bliss! Never can I recapture you
either on earth, in air, or sky,
although I know you have reality
and are no futile dream.

― Rosalía de Castro, tr. by Muriel Kittel

Wildalone

Wildalone*, I'm-
age harbouring a restless soul, uprooted
and haunted by this
intrinsic longing to be on the move
in chase of an archaic self-
reinventing ever illusionary horizon
somewhere else, obscure
like an emerald frosted century-
old heart-shaped sea-glass
relentlessly pounded by time and elements
glinting now at my weary feet
at the water's edge of Cabo Fisterra
believed once to be the End of the World
astounding, evermore unsettled
the mere proposition of a dream
distance destiny merging
someday, someplace

*Wildalone, самодива [samodiva]

that I will always be haunted by thoughts of a sun-drenched elsewhere.”

The Pilgrim's Prayer

. . .

3.
Thou wilst sweeten my final bitterness,
Thou wilst lighten my final weariness,
Thou wilst watch over my dreams,
Thou wilst wipe away my tears.

4.
Every morning wilst Thou us again
the torch of light and joy
and Thou wilst exchange the dead hours
I bring thee for a new and living morning. Amen.

Age over Dream

Dream over memory ―
this incessant grind of hours
only the ancient survive
                         in cold stone i'm-age-
                         less fervent flesh and bone
remain true in spite
the verbal contortion of thoughts
wholesome desire
  promises century-old
that do not live long enough
to limn the light at dawn
                         re-call your name.

"We eat light, drink it in through our skins. With a little more exposure to light,
you feel part of things physically. I like feeling the power of light and space physically
because then you can order it materially. Seeing is a very sensuous act ―
there's a sweet deliciousness to feeling yourself see something."

― James Turrell

Riddle

"I'll tell you a riddle.
You're waiting for a train, a train that will take you far away.
You know where you hope this train will take you, but you don't know for sure.
But it doesn't matter. . .
How can it not matter to you where that train will take you?"

- Inception, The Movie
